Engine Storage

I'm getting ready to remove the 2.3 petrol from the D in favor of a tdi. I intend to keep the 2.3 for installation in one of my series rigs down the road as its only done 63K and has the 5mb setup along with the revised manifolds and weber carb. How should I prepare this thing for longish term storage? Thanks!

I'm no expert, but I'd venture to say clear the fuel out of the carb or any lines, squirt oil into the cylinders and re-insert the plugs, grease anything that is greasable and close/seal/grease anything that could allow air/moisture in (like the carb). Then wrap it up in pvc.

Put in boat. Attach chain. Drop overboard.

Seriously, I would just fog the cylinders with oil and drain the gas and put fresh oil in it and turn it over a few times everyone once in a while. Would not hurt to leave all the oil on the outside of it to keep it from corroding

*not legal advice*
