Engine light

Hello friends,
Engine light is on and I can't find what is wrong. The truck drives strong and all fluids are perfect, can't seem to find an issue. It's a 97 sw by the way. Any help is appreciate it.

my first advice to anyone with OBD 2 plug is get yourself a WIFI or BT scanner and read the codes out with your phone / tablet. then posting the codes the advice will be much better

do you drive it at operating temps on a regular basis? using these truck more often helps. mine is a daily driver and I've had no problems for 12 year/120K miles other than an o2 sensor burn out.

I drive it every day and just had it serviced at Fouroaks month ago. Unfortunately, Larry at four oaks is retired and closed his shop

Do these models not have the onboard code display box?

If not, an OBD scan tool to look at the codes. No help can be provided until the code(s) are known.

Avahdani, a local auto parts store will probably have a code reader that you can borrow to read the codes on their premises and will also likely be willing to show you how to do it the first time. You can return the favor by buying a code reader from them.

Your local auto zone will read the codes for free. Every code is suppose to identify a particular issue. Often times depending on the code, codes are just a clue as to whats wrong & not what the actual code is referring to!!

A tech familiar with vacuum setup / sensors will be able to translate the code after an inspection.

Generally speaking if your truck is running ok as in no noises, smoke, performance loss etc. Its most prob something simple as in a cracked vaccume line / oxygen sensor etc...
