eliminating the MAF - what intake hose and air filter did you use

Has anyone eliminated the MAF (using MegaSquirt) and if so, what did you use for an intake hose and air filter?
Did the length of the hose affect performance?

Thanks

Buy the megasquirt2 daughter card, cheepo and retain the MAF! Just kidding. See if there's a generic K&N that fits the intake opening at their web site.

Are you just running MS1 code (fuel only) or Megasquirt 'n Spark with a MSD or something?

Good evening Bill....
For now it is the MS II extra - fuel only, but it is wired for Ford EDIS and I have the coil packs and EDIS module to add at a later date.
I've been reading up on advanced fuel injection systems ("Performance Fuel Injection Systems" by Cramer and Hoffman), the crank wheel and VR sensor are installed - as is the MAP sensor.
Next is adding the MS and disconnecting the stock ecu.
Once I, hopefully, get it running with the MS and road tuned I'll look for a dyno.
After that I'll try adding the Ford EDIS and then back to the dyno tuner.
At least that is the plan.
Any thoughts?

While I haven't done anything with EDIS, it seems to be the easiest way to go, especially if you're putting in a 4.6.
I bought the relay board which makes wiring SOOO much easier both at install and down the road as all your connections are made there.
I think you can use the Rover coil packs and all from a Disco II/RR which might make adapting easier.
I know there are several folks on the MS forum who have done that.

Don't get too wrapped up in theory and all that. As long as you understand the basics you have enough in your brain hole to figure it out.

I'd also be tempted to put in a bit lumpier cam. The stock cam is quite wussy, and if you don't care that much about gas mileage (which you obviously don't if you own a Rover) it will really wake up the engine.

Crower cam from D n D Fabrication was installed at re-build and it is a definite plus.
