Mike, will the research Mark does at ECR be specific to your 4.6 Pursuit setup, or do you think he might come up with something applicable to the standard 4.6 NAS GEMS engine? I'm curious, because that is what I have (in a 1997 D-90, with stock injectors and everything else).

We will be doing as many engines as possible. We will have a 3 stock 4.6 GEMS 90s, a Pursuit 4.6 GEMS 110 and a couple 14CUX 4.6s and a 5.2 GEMS 90 for him to play with. We hope with those and some time on the dyno everything will be sorted.
So the end result will hopefully be a few tweaks to the 14CUX system and the sorting on the GEMS in a few different versions.
If we can squeeze it all in then we'll do dyno tests to show gains and such.

Mark has offered to tweak ECUs while he is here, so if you have, or are planning, a chip upgrade it would be a good time to have it done, because you won't have to have the down time of shipping your ECU to the UK and back.
Mark will be here the first week in March.

Mike - Spoke with Holly regarding return shipping of my ECU. She stated all your issues were addressed and the trip was quite successful. Thanks again for working these issues!!! Can't wait to get it back. I'm due for emissions testing this month. I don't think the old build would have passed. Mark

There are a few things you might want to change that we found in doing all the tests. I'll get it all written up and post it to the ECR site as soon as I can. Your software was updated and we used that ECU in some of the testing, so it is working very well.

Fidel,

Will these updates be on the Tornado chips offered by Mark from this point forward?

Yup, Mark will apply everything he learned to all US products. Thats why we brought him over.

Hang in there as I get all this written up. My brain is a little scrambled from the last week and weekend as we packed a ton of work into the last 4 days (long ass days).
The short version:
There are some quite noticeable gains to be had from just the new chips alone (almost a second 0-60 and added HP and torque) and a lot better throttle response all over, especially low end. I have tons of tests and base lines to compare and compile.

The main learning curve was due to the crap US fuel. The UK fuel is a higher octane and has less junk in it, so things had to be addressed to compensate for the poor quality of the US fuels.

We also made a huge break through in the ability to run big cams with the EFI system and make them idle and run correctly and our new Supercharger set up can now work with the GEMS ECU as well.

Its gonna take me a week or two to write it all up, but it is coming.

Mike,

That sounds great, thanks for the update...

What's this about a new Supercharger setup???

2nd that! Would like to hear more about the Supercharger when you have a chance.

Also, very interested in the chip updates. 1 sec off 0-60 times is very impressive. Also, improving the throttle response is a big plus.

It'll all be posted to the ECR site as soon as I can.

Our stock 4.6 set up with the chip pulled nearly 2 seconds off the 0-60 times with large gains in low end torque on the dyno.

You should see the numbers the 5.2 was doing!!! and now we can make those big cam motors run smooth even when cold.

The Supercharger info will be posted soon. We aren't ready to release that yet, but soon. The tease: about 275HP from an otherwise stock 4.0 and no running lean blower issues like the other units have had in the past.

Follow-up Post:

Just to clarify... its near a second off the 0-60 times with the chip set up, not a full second.

Didn't want the "detail" folks to email me that I made a mistake when I post all the data.

Same with the 4.6 set up... its nearly 2 seconds off, not a full 2 seconds.

I can turn all 4 with the 5.2 D90 off the line, but not really "smoke" unless I turn a little then I can light up the inside two and bake them, and that is an automatic and SSR swampers.

I just re-read the thread and relized something - is this just for the 97/4.0 vehicles? Are the 3.9's in the 94/95's tunable?

Mike will these chip modifications apply to the 4.6 HSE (p38a) as well as the 90's? If so I would be interested in a chipset.

not to speak for ECR, but on their website they seem to indicate that 14CUX tunes have been set for some time.
