Effin starter

Starter in the loob packed up today. Called Rob Bass and he came out to help. Tried a little bit there in the Suburban Hospital parking lot (I was using the ATM there), got the bottom bolt out easily enough, but the top one was stuck hard. We tried a few things there but we called triple a and had it hauled back to my humble abode. Rob had to go, and left me to keep going on my own. I tried with a few more wrench combinations but no luck as the socket head bolt is messed up and the tools just cam out. Put the jack under it and jacked up on the starter to bust it off. Still have the upper ear and the bolt stuck. Snow coming down hard and light failing so it will have to wait now for the weather to clear and the snow to melt.
When it does clear up enough to work on it, I will have to try getting a bit of 8mm allen wrench in there and welding it to the bolt. Then I can get an 8mm socket on it. Suck.

Damn, it's a shame PT Schram hadnt gotten a hold of your truck.
That's the first thing he fixes, I think.

The question I have Bill is do you still have a 4.6 in the back of the truck?

While I was 'supervising' you guys. Talk about the typical NOVA Rover transaction. Absurd.

Bill sells 4.6 to Ray. Ray sells 4.6 to Rick. Rick sells 4.6 back to Bill. Bill sells 4.6 to Rob. Hopefully Rob will be an end user of said 4.6.

After leaving you guys @ Lost Dog Pub yesterday pretty sure I passed Bill on GW Parkway. I was @ Rob's house Thursday. Its amazing how incestuous the parts cycle is in the DC area.

I seem to recall a set of tires that endured a similar whirlwind of ownership.

Myself.
Yep my old 285/75 Km2's that I bought from the prototype tester for BFG in Baja.
I put 40k on them and then sold them to Huff who sold them to Kexby who sold them to Lav. They still had a ton of tread.
Pedro probably has them somewhere....

Mm K back in bidniss.
First try was the cut down bolt with filed taper.
Hammered that in but it cammed out.
Rob came by with his welder. Hammered it back in and welded a couple blobs. Magic.
Starter in and working.

[/QUOTE]Yup, heat is often magic with stuck bolts.
I hope you put Never Seez on the threads of the new ones.
