In large part because I'm crap at wiring, I am still trying to trace down a dead rear turn signal light and the apparent lack of a reverse light. Anyone have a wiring diagram for an '86 diesel? Also, "should" the reverse light on a RHD truck be the large rectangular light on the left or right side?

Thanks

The fog, large red rectangular, is on the Drivers side, either LHD or RHD respectfully. So for a truck with a RHD wiring harness is should be on the right. You can get the wiring diagram for a 2002 but I haven't been able to find one for the 85/86 years per say. The 2002 is pretty close especially in the rear wiring loom. I have the PDF file stored but you can search for it on Google UK. If you can't find it let me know and I can send you a copy.

Wiring on the 2002 TD5 is vastly different to even the 1999 TD5, and is a world away from the wiring on pre-300Tdi vehicles.

I have scanned the 'composite diagram' which covers all models and markets from 1986 (and was still current for my 1989 110).

Excuse the grubby finger marks, but I scanned this from my Genuine Land Rover Workshop Manual (which has seen a lot of use), it's on two pages, the diagram and the key to the diagram -

Some may also find this useful, it's the two page diagram for 1991 - 1994 vehicles -

For owners of ex-Military vehicles, this is from the Operating Information (User Handbook) for 1986/87 Military 90 and 110 vehicles -

Haynes Manual has what you need.

I've got an '84 and best I can tell the rear lights were not changed until I updated them to LEDs. The reverse light (white rectangular box) is on the passenger side (LH for my RHD truck). The red rectangular light (rear fog I believe) is on my RH / driver side.

Did you check the transmission for the shift connector, reverse indicator.
It is under the middle seat or cubby in center, remove the plate in center top of seat box.
A two pronged plug that has a wire attached to rear, follow that wire, it may go to the loom that goes in the frame but will have same color on each end, listed on wire diagram.

Turn signal wire if you can find the front end of signal wire probably near turn indicator, you can test continuity.
