Drivetrain question

Hello - recently damaged u-joint and front prop shaft far from home. Removed front prop shaft hoping to proceed on highway using only the rear prop shaft but vehicle acted as if in neutral unless diff engaged. Should I have expected to be able to continue on with only one prop shaft in place? Do I have a problem somewhere in the drivetrain? Seems transfer case is not sending power to the rear in high range.

Any insight would be appreciated - down in Mexico without too many people to ask about Landys. Thank you.

You need to lock the center diff to drive in rear wheel only mode.
