Drive line problems HELP

First off: 1994 defender 90 110,000 miles 2" OME lift.
With that said I had the yoke for my front drive shaft shatter about a month ago. I had the drive line re worked by a specialist and everything has been honky dory untill a week ago. I started to feel mild vibrations, I first thought the drive line was out of wack. But then I was getting off the freeway today and saw smoke, (at first I thought it was the oil cooler lines and almost craped my pants) the smoke was comming off my catalytic converters where the breether tube was dumping gear oil from the front differential. This only happens at freeway speed.

Drive line or do I need new CV's? Can they cause this?
Should I get a double cardon front shaft anyway?

Any suggestions would be great
Thanks for you input in advance!

Steve

Seems a little odd that your gear oil doubled in volume and flowed out tube. Have you greased the u joints on the shaft recently? The drive shaft is so close to the cat and the grease can get a little more viscous. Maybe the drive shaft just spun a little excess grease on the cat. JP

There is no excess from the u-joints. I don't get it either. you can see where the oil flowed from the breather on to the frame then down on to the cat, the oil came from the breather.

I forgot to mension one point: I just changed the diff oil 2 weeks ago, but I can't see that I skrewed up doing that, Ive done it 1000 tiems before.

Thanks

The only two things that I know of to cause this is the diff overheating (for whatever reason) or there was too much oil in the pumpkin. If you are sure that you did not overfill the front, I would pull it and take a look. It is very wierd that so much came out.

Made it further than half of the other guys, but the Hammers won.

Very strange. There's so many sources of leaks under there that I'd check again that it was really from the breather and not an illusion. Power steering hoses, oil hoses, tranny cooler hoses, not to mention pump seals, engine seals, etc, etc. My thoughts.
