Door Top Options

I am really tired of rusty door top studs and rusty quick release fasteners. Sometimes the quick release comes off and sometimes the stud comes out. I'm looking at all new stainless window studs and stainless quick nuts. At Atlantic British the whole order for both doors would be $187.90. This seems like a HUGE amount of $$$. Does anyone have any other sources or options for rust free door top removal? (Cheaper stainless parts or modifying existing parts.) The other option would be to move out of Seattle to Arizona.

$90 is still a bit dear!

Ive been looking into replacing mine as well for the new split middle doors I bought. AB is having a sale now for the studs and quick nuts for about $160 before shipping. I know RN sells quick nuts that look like they have a cadium(?) finish to them for around 50 something.

Thumbs up

I made mine on the cheap.
I bought some .500" ground 304SS bar from Fastenal and turned the threads on each side on a CNC lathe. I bet a machine shop could do it cheaper than AB/RN. Maybe worth looking into...

Good luck...

Cheers...

Mike,

Have some free time on your hands to make at least 3 more sets?

Great work...

I'd be in for a set. Those look awesome. I'll ask around about a Seattle machine shop. Great idea. Thanks.
