Door locks and tailgate door - 2007

I've had issues with my door locks and tailgate door handle since I purchased my 97 D90. The locks on both doors are finicky and the rear tailgate doesn't like to open. Going to try a little WD40 this afternoon. Just wanted to see if others have had the same issue. Thanks.

WD40 is a bad idea for a lock, it will collect dust over time and make the issue worse.

Go to ace hardware and they will sell a graphite or dry lube that is made to lubricate locks.

Silicon spray is better.

Putting graphite in ANY of our D90 locks is a BAD idea. Our locks have some degree of factory installed grease. Grease + graphite = dirt clods/clumps !! Silicon spray is a much better choice as it drys leaving only a fine powdery silicon film.

Graphite if fine, but a little "old school" for pin tumbler residential locks.
Silicon or "powderized teflon" delivered in a volatile spray, is the best thing going in lock lubricants today.

awesome thanks. I will try the silicon spray. Luckily I'm lazy and haven't applied WD40 yet.
