Donor 97 D1 swap to 94 D90...

In an attempt to reduce the number of basket cases in the driveway, I was wondering what the viability is of swapping the serp 4.6 and ZF that is currently in the 97 Disco into a stock v-belt 94 D90 with a 3.9 and R380. Assume the Disco will be parted out for whatever can't be used in the 90 then scrapped. What kind of mess am I looking to get myself into?

At first look, the obvious is the cowl, alt and ps pump are gonna be a challenge due to the routing differences between the serp and v belts. But I assume everything will more or less bolt into place back to the tcase. Anyone who has done something similar care to chime in?

Not sure how a '97 D1 differs from a '94 D1 but my truck has an engine (and ancillaries) and ZFHP22 transmission from a '94 D1 in it (tansmission originally installed by the PO, but since rebuilt, and was once on the stock 3.9 before replaces with a rebuilt serp 3.9). I am using the D1 cowl as well. The wiring harness and transfer case mates up fine with no mods, but you'll need the center console setup from a '97 D90 or do some linkage fabbing to have a shifter come through the stock boot (like mine) which doesn't look bad. It does not however have anything in place to stop you starting it in gear which is pretty shoddy imho, but otherwise works fine. I am not happy with the kickdown cable adjustment on mine and I am not sure if this is a computer issue or just mechanical.

Wait isn't a '97 D1 gems/obdII? If yes, I don't know how hard that will be.

Yep, gems. I pretty much need to do what LR did between 95 and 97 to the NAS 90's. I can deal with the cosmetics later.

Wondering if it's possible to change the front cover to have the gems 4.6 accommodate a dizzy? Would that be less of a stretch?
