Distributorless (direct ignition) system

Has anyone tried converting their D90 to a direct ignition system, ie crank sensor, etc to get rid of distributor?

I know you still need the distributor gearing to run the oil pump but you could at least get rid of the electronics making it more waterproof and more adjustable.

I have done it but I had a parts car to rob all of the computer and wiring harness components. Also depending on the year of your motor you probably need the port in the rear of the block for the crank sensor! When I swithced over I used the complete motor with ancillaries from the donor vehicle.

Did you use or splice into the D90 ECU or just use the control system from the company that you used for the direct injection system??

Have you been happy with it??

Thinking of using XDI system from Electromotive but not happy over scrapping the ECU and going with total after-market total control system.
