Distributor seating

Okay, I bought a distributor for the 3.9 V8 Defender 90 I have. I can't get it to seat down correctly in the notch. Basically, its not going "all the way in".

Being the genius (i am not), any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure. I seam to recall feeling the same when I was pulling mine in and out but it was actually in.

Soapy water / KY jelly, etc. is is basically a must. Yes, good idea to remove trim panels - only takes 5 more minutes to do so.

Yeah. Im 95 percent sure. i put some tack gasket on bottom of distributor and it kept showing up on the notch top. The oring also is only at the top and it appears i have room to push in more per original.
