Will a Discovery tire carrier work on a soft top NAS 90 tailgate?

A defender tailgate is going to need some bracing added to fit one of these I think.

I agree. Backing plates and maybe a third hinge.

I have a stack of these if anyone needs one. Same unit is used on the late td5 and puma rear doors.

Jeff, great idea!

-the top hinge needs more support longitudinally. When gates open, weight pulls body panel. Long term could be bad.
-the bottom of the tire needs a bump stop to keep tire vibration from twisting/flexing the tail gate. A must.
-a second latch at the bottom of the tailgate would add a lot of strength and security on a bumpy trail.

I bought my tire carrier at a you pull it junk yard. $15
