Disco II seats in a Defender

Hi. Saw this mentioned in a different thread...

Has anybody ever done this??

http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=34118

Disco II leather seat sets are fairly cheap, I know battery and ECU access will be limited but I would use the seats more than I need "quick acess" to the ECU and Battery. The fronts look simple enough, it is the back 60/40 seat I am wondering about??

Thanks

There are lots of threads about putting puma rear seats in td5s. Probably no easier but fits better

More money but less ghetto. With that said Tyler has done an amazing job putting disco seats in his truck but he has a wagon. There is more room to fit stuff. In the crew cab I would think you would be limited.

Yeah I looked into getting front DII seats in my truck but in the end there was to many mods needed on the seat box for me to justify it. They are way to high if you try to mount them on the seat box from what I have been told and can gather especially for a tall guy like me. My legs would not fit under the steering wheel.

I ended up installing a DII middle seat as I feel the stock 110 seats are horrible. Now all I gotta do is get an Exmoor leather seat kit for the fronts and hope the pattern is close enough to the DII seat to make it make sense. You can see how I did it in my build thread. Happy to answer any questions.

How would you get to the battery if you installed seats like that? Seems like a lot of work for extra comfort. I think Horsey uses a couple of pillows, not only so he can see over the steering wheel but also for the extra comfort.

No way! Horsey can barely get in the truck as is. If he added a couple of pillows to the seat he would have to add a couple to his step stool for getting in.

I installed LR3 seats in my 90. First, I tried using the LR3 base but you end up sitting way too high. So, I removed the seat back from the frame then cut the 90 seat frame and welded the 2 together. After 2yrs the drivers seat weld broke lose so i need to renforce it and try again. Also, the 2 rear outer seats from rear of the LR3 will fit in the back of the 90. I currently have them mounted but need to brace them so they'll be sturdy enought in the event of an accident. The cool thing is now I have the latch system so I can put car seats in the back. Was hoping to have everything finished up last fall but i'm running behind in my projects right now. Hope this helps.

Tom -- I have an extra set of d2 seats at Eric's house which I am going to be putting into my truck, you're welcome to test fit them, and then have my seats if you want. I think I'm only going to be using the 2 front seats, so the rears should be available if that's what you are interested in.
