Disco 200Tdi Alternator P/N?

After driving home in a blizzard and depleting the battery down to 8v (no heater fan, no wipers!), I guess it's time to put a new alternator in. Good thing I was driving a diesel.

Anyway, I can't seem to find a consensus as to the part number. Are the disco and defender 200Tdi part numbers the same? I think it's STC233, but I've also seen STC234. Next question, anybody know of a supplier in the US that carries it?

Thanks!

Any luck with this?

I do believe a Range Rover alt from the same generation will work and is actually a very slight upgrade. I know this works on the defender motor.

I've got a defender motor, but the last few posts I made might help.

Disco engines use the alternator with the adjuster on the right side. Defender engines use the one on the left.

STC233 is the 65 Amp unit.

You can probably also fit the 100 Amp unit from a 300TDI after you change the pulley AMR4248 or AMR5425 as long as there is space.

Nope, never did find out the correct part number. I ended up taking the old one to a local shop to be rebuilt.

I clocked the disco alternator on my 200tdi in order to mount it in the defender/series orientation.

......and the early (mid eighties to mid nineties) Range rover alternator does work on both, which means you can get the thing anywhere.
