Dilling holes in aluminum body panels

All--

Quick question: I am going to mount my Troy Storage Boxes and Rover's North wingtop/bonnet protectors soon. This will require me to drill holes into the body panels and rear fender wells for the various fasteners. After I have drilled my holes, is there any particular prep steps I should take to protect the exposed metal before fastening things together.

Thanks in advance.

Christopher

I would use mylar washers on the bolts next to the aluminum body--other than that, I did not. This is to protect from galvanic reaction. If you use steel bolts, the bolts usually rust--if you use stainless bolts, the body usually oxidizes. I suppose treating the exposed aluminum with some sort of paint is not a bad idea, but aluminum being as soft as it is, you can't expect it really do much (it will scratch off too easily).
