Stanadyne and howells, two highly recommended additives for diesel fuel. yes the reformulated diesel engine fuel wreaks havoc on older diesel systems.
Difficult long starts, rough idle, loss of power, higher temps, knock, low performance. Are a few of the issues encountered and reported from new "clean" diesel fuels.
Newer diesel engines are able to cope with this issues with computer management and other engineering feats.
