Diagnosis help from the experts-HELP!

At the end of my rope and need some help from you guys
Have a 1995 D90 that I bought this past summer. Barn Dweller that had been sitting for last 10 years. 40K in very good shape. Have been experiencing the following

Drives strong for most part. Feels like is it "missing" when in 5th...just a bit. Occationly when driving I loose power. If in gear it keeps moving along for about 15 seconds until power returns. If going slow it stalls out and then restarts after a few tries. If you pump gas when this is happening nothing happens. Seems to kind of correct itself and then on the way again. Feels like it is loosing fuel but my mechanic says different. He says it is electrical. Following work has been done
-new wires and plugs
-loose wire to coil fixed
-fuel filter replaced (was extremely clogged.
-One of cats was shattered-thought perhaps this was exhaust issue (clogged)
-replaced Front exhaust including both Cats as well as new muffler

Just picked up from my guys and doing same thing. What does it sound like to you guys? Fuel pump? What electrical to check? Worth trying a new coil? Any direction much appreciated

Many thanks

I've had a similar problem to this and it turned out to be leaking air in the pipe between the plenum and MAF ... The big 3 inch diameter pipe. Mine always seems to work itself lose from time to time ...

Other than than ... The distributor advance tube also rots out and is worth changing ... Cost about $1 from autozone.

Ps I'm not an expert as my other current thread clearly demonstrates!
