Diagnosing Power Steering Issues

What are the symptoms of a failing steering box? Mine is leaking and I'm also getting a whine when I turn the wheel. No whine when driving straight.

The pump is only about two years old. Hoping they're not both bad.

If the box is leaking and it is whining I think you hard your answer for what's wrong.

Top up fluid first. My lwb has been leaking for a decade plus.

It's gone past drip and is bordering on puddle. Probably need to hit up Meridian.

Just got a meridian 2 weeks ago. Single greatest purchase I've ever made for my rover. Then again it wasn't a leak I cared about it was the 20 degrees of slop in the steering.
