Detroit help

Whats the difference between the 187SL173A Detroit for a 24 spline rover rear end for trucks from 1993-2000 and the Detroit 225SL36 for the Salisbury rear end? Both are 24 spline. What is the difference between them. Are they interchangeable? Are they physically different? Stronger, weaker?

Thanks,

Kevin

Wouldn't the salisbury one be about 2x the size?

Salisbury is for a salibury rear, the other one is for a rover rear. The salisbury one is a "lunchbox" style that just includes the center, the rover one is a full new carrier and whatnot (also they used to come with bearings). Obviously, your 130 needs the salisbury type.

I screwed up. I should have bought one from Keith. I bought a Detroit from a guy who said he had said he had a Detroit for a Salisbury 24 spline. When I got it it was the 187SL173A Detroit. I should have known the deal was too good to be true.

Problem solved. Thanks.
