Detroit Diesel

Caught this on Pirate. Looks like a winner spec-wise. Need to check dimensions and see where they can be had.

Could be just the ticket for an auto 110.

Detroit Diesel repower for defender 110
Hello
I found this site when i was looking for repowering advice for my recently purchased NAS Defender 110.
I am gona make my first post short and sweet and later posts will cover in entirety the various avenues I am considering for a Diesel repower.

I stumbled upon what I think is the ideal (imho)Diesel repower for mid sized 4wheel drives.

Its the Detroit Diesel 4.0L V6 DELTA

Torque 376 ft/lbs
Horsepower 232
Weight 293 kg (643 lbs)

This engine is as ideal as i can find for repowering my 110.
Its not as heavy as an ISB 3.9 , provides more hp and being a V6 less vibration. The ISB gives more torque but I really don't want too much torque cuz then I have to do costly upgrades.

Detroit Diesel has repowered Dodge Durangos and crew-cab dakatos with these engines and a Defender 110 is about the size of a Durango.

the gas v8 currently in my defender is 600lbs, the ISB 3.9 is 773lbs.

Now heres the problem.

I can't find any information on whether Detroit Diesel mass produced these and if so in what vehicles they were installed or if they were sold engine only.

The engine was specifically designed for N.American light truck/suv market.

Below are 3 of the only links I can find on this engine

I remember looking at that engine at one time but I think that it was never produced or some problem like that.

Yeah Art, this looks perfect. Let us know if you find anything. I'll try to do some digging later on to see if I can find anything too. Could be a winner if we could get a couple of them for a decent price.

Unfortunately, I picked the wrong time to start this as I'm real busy with work for the near future. So, don't wait for me to move on this.
