Defender vs series 3 front wing panels and light surrounds

So I've been thinking about a slightly more retro looking headlight surround set up. Sort of stage one/ series 3 look. I know there are a few companies making surrounds with the look like these Entreq ones.

Only thing is I don't really need or want the louvers. So my question is can I simply remove the plastic defender surrounds and use a set of series 3 headlight bezels? Or are the front wing panels between the series 3 and defender drastically different?

There will be screw holes, but at least on the pre TD5 era trucks (with the loovers), the SIII surrounds fit fine.

That's great. I was hoping that was the case.

Will I need to do anything to the indicators since they won't be passing through the plastic surround?

I had the paint shop fill in all the extra holes during the paint job. Hard to tell because of the color of the bezel and my truck but heres a pic:

I'm guessing this guy makes them. Raw they were kind of lacking but my local powder guy cleaned them up and now that they are powder coated they look fine.

out of curiosity, do all puma bonnets use that stick as a prop instead of the hinged ones on earlier trucks?
