You need one of those "This vehicle secured by Smith and Wesson" stickers.

This has been the case for nearly a decade. They never came here in any number. They have been getting parted and going into containers headed to Sri Lanka and the likes as parts and are then re-constructed with labor that cost cents a day. Because they enter as parts they avoid the horrendous entry duty in those third world countries.

When Bobeck and I went to the UK in 2009 our host had us park the defenders on a narrow lane with 4 ft stone walls on either side and then blocked them in with Vauxhall vans. I asked wtf and was told they would be gone in the morning otherwise. The same guy had a 110 taken from his driveway (3ft thick stone walls block a lot of sound) and the cops found it 2 miles away where it ran out of fuel- the only reason he got it back was because it literally had a quart of fuel in the tank.

I've seen Defenders chained to the ground with heavy chains and steel pipes set in the concrete driveway. Chain goes around the frame, seems that some thiefs use wrecking trucks or similar equipment to make off with the rovers so it doesn't matter if they can't start them.

Besides the extra vehicle tax in London on the Defender the theft problem was the main reason why I had a RRC there and not a Defender. The RRC was much less likely to be stolen.

I know where it is stored and have spoken to the officer in charge of the facility.

Well, the government isn't REALLY shut down. If it were, there would be no airplanes flying, no open ports of entry, no stocks traded, no military activity, no weather being reported, no cell phones, no internet, no TV, no...well you get the idea.
