Painted flairs, eyebrows, are a option on the nicer equipped models. You will often find that the used car guys in the UK paint the flairs to make the truck look like a newer model. Painting plastic is easy as long as you prep them properly.

Amazing. It appears that I have been confused about this fact during my last 22 years of land rover ownership (or at least as long as they have been painting them).

Its true, although I've never owned a newer Defender. Only Series and my 95 D90.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm definitely having mine painted then.

Original matt rubber takeoffs have been posted by rebuild places like ECR. They are not available new.

I have three original eyebrows - all very matt with the shiny flecks. They appear to be rubber with some sort of fiberglass filler. The fourth one, a replacement is the shiny plastic type that is currently available new. It has not gone matt over four years and advice to use wire wool on them didn't make much difference.

If you really want matte you need to talk to a dealer in the uk that has them for replacements to customer cars. Nobody sells them but rover definitely makes them.

Is it really that ridiculous of a proposition to assume someone made stamped aluminium aftermarket eyebrows? That middle photo looks like it could be metal.

Why would anyone want metal? The whole point of the eyebrows is that they can get hit and bent all the time without damage.

Mine are cracked, chipped and faded by the sun. How is that more durable?
