Defender 90 Question.

Hi All,
I have a tech question. I have a 97 D90 soft top, that I have had for about a year. Just recently it has started giving me problems: It starts up no problem and will run well for a while, but if I stop and then get back in the car to start it up, it will turn over but will not idle. You can't get it in gear with out it dying. It seems like it is too hot or over heated. The gage says it is fine, right in the middle. If I let it sit for a 2-4 hours, it will start right up and then we repeat the process. I did have the fuel lines replaced last summer, because it was doing the same thing but would not turn over. It now turns over but won't idle.

Any ideas?

Also,
Anyone know how to remove the windows/frame etc off of the doors?

Thanks much. Matt

Assume all normal maintenance has been done.

I'd initially make sure that the IAC and MAF are clean.

If you see the search button you can usually put some keywords as your symptoms and you'll find threads on your topic fully covered (usually). Other than that, google things you don't know, and we can help fill in the blanks from there. For example, if you google "land rover maf" the first result tells you maf = mass air flow.

Welcome to the forum.

Do you have a check engine light illuminated? If so, get the code read and report back.

To remove the frames off the door, I made a post about that a while back. Basically remove the nuts at the bottom and then you have to pry them off very carefully.

Ok so i took the car in and they ended up replacing the o2 sensors in the rear, which removed the check engine light. They cleaned the IAC and it now idles. Awesome!!! I left the shop and driving home and notice the right and left turn signals don't work. You can turn them on but no blinking. They worked before I brought it in. Any ideas?

Hazard switch. Give it a light pull.

Let it sit for 2-4 hours while you drink. All will be fine after drinking for 2-4 hours.

Ok
The radio turns on but no music. I called and got the security code. Do I have to let
The car run for 1.5 hours before entering code. Right now code does nothing.
Thanks.

You should be able to enter the code immediately on turning the ignition on and the radio should work immediately thereafter. I just had to do it yesterday because I had disconnected my battery to hook up a trickle charger in Feb because I wasn't driving much.

The idea of someone stealing my radio as anything other than a prank is hilarious.
