Defender 110 Weak Headlights

I have an 86 110 and the headlights are weak - I replaced the headlights but not the issue. Has anyone had this issue

Pretty common. There's a big loss in voltage from the switch to the headlights so they're likely not receiving 'full power'. The easiest thing to do is to pull power with a heavier gauge wire straight off the battery and to a switched relay that you toggle with the existing headlight wiring. You ought to see an increase in output.

You want:

ARB heavy duty wiring loom
Hella H4 housings
Hella H4 55W/100W "off road use only" bulbs

Details here:

The pigtail bits may or may not apply to you, depending on how your lights are wired right now.

This is the simplest method to correct the problem. Yes you do need the ceramic sockets because our stock sockets will burn out.

Also check the grounds. IIRC they or it is on the passenger side inner fender.

Are they weak as in there is a problem or are they just inadequate. On my '85, the bullet connectors were loose and slightly corroded. Jiggling the connector would make them work normally.
