defender 110 Tires for boost rims

Hey all, i know this must have been asked a hundred times but i need some quick direct help. i am buying a 1988 defender 110 with the boost rims and want to get tires put on before i make the 776 mile drive home. my defender will spend 90% of its time on pavement. i want to keep road noise down as my wife thinks my decision to buy the truck is stupid and i don't want to give here more fuel to complain. i ask the forum because its not like there are lots of defenders in my area to look at and size up. i believe the stock size looks good to me as i don't need monster tires. any general thoughts would help
thanks
j

If your wife thinks it is a bad idea, then you are asking for trouble! Just don't ever let her ride in it, she will most certainly hate it, although tires will be the least of your worries.

These would probably be a safe bet for a quality tire that isn't loud.

Great recommendation especially if you have to run long distances from the wife.
However if you want to keep short term running costs lower, there are plenty of others to go with. Take a look at Tirerack for guidance.
235/85-16 or 265/75-16 are the sizes to consider.

Now what car does she want to drive?

I don't know about the brakes, only their unreliability.

If you want quite semi aggressive tires BF Goodrich all terrain's may fit the bill.

235 85 16 looks beefy enough without looking too large. I am running Michelin LTX AT, which are 60K mile tires. Very strong heavy truck sidewalls...

You live in pasadena (my hometown). Get a set of BFG ATs in 235/85r16. Mellow enough on the road and don't look insane. And pretty good in the rain...if you guys ever get any.
