Defender 110 Gear Ratios / RPM's

Hello,

I had a little question about what RPM I am at when cruising. I have a 1988 Defender 110 3.5 V8 with the Lt85 I believe. Its a 5 speed and reverse is way to the left and up. The top speed I have gone is about 70mph and I was just curious what RPM you think that is. Am I close to redline? Is going faster bad for it? Does anyone have an shift chart which gives max speed per gear. Thank you for the help!

Loosen your man bra and take a deep breath. You are in no danger keeping your foot on it even after you get to 70. That engine can withstand 6000 rpm and believe me, you'll run out of wheeze with it before you ever top it out.

Depending on tire size and transfercase ratio, 3000-3500 at 70. I have a 1.2 transfercase and 33+ tires and it's about 2900 rpm at around 70
