Dead LR3

Not a Defender, but still Technical. My 2007 LR3 wouldn't start today, totally dead, no power anywhere. I popped the hood, poked around and made sure the battery was connected and the fuses were all pushed in. While I was under there (nothing awry by the way) it just reconnected and started.
This is the second time it happened. Once a few weeks ago (I wasn't there, my wife's car), and same thing, after waiting a few minutes it acts like nothing is wrong. It does reset the clock and mileage on the trip odometer.

Details. 2007, SE, 78K. No extra electrics (No Nav, no entertainment).
Thanks in advance.
Jesse

When you popped the hood and were poking around did you rub on the front bumper at all? And what kind of pants were you wearing?

I'd be slapping a new battery in it....just in case and see if it ever happens again..and make sure they have removed the transport switch off it, if they used them on these during delivery also..??

Def check the battery, they are very juice intensive and get very finicky if the battery is starting to go.

Thanks, y'all, I'll start down the battery road. Thing is, I've had a weak battery and it still did stuff (radio on, etc). This time it was like the battery was disconnected, then fine.

Oh, not corduroy, I bought some authentic MC Hammer pants when he liquidated his assets in bankruptcy. So obviously they never touched the bumper.

Get a new battery.

I had random no start and dead batt issues in my 06 and after cleaning all of the terminals and wrecking the transfer case control module (another story, but they are like gremlins, don't get them near water) I was thinking it was the alternator since I had a batteries plus 18 month old pro plus $200 unit. The battery had shit the bed and batteries plus didn't want to do anything about it. I went with a new AGM Duracell from Sam's club and it fixed all my woes.

I remember reading about faults with LR3/RRS battery cables and the terminals getting corroded. You might want to trace down the cable to the other end (not the battery side) and see how it looks.

I had a weird fault on the radio headset the other day. The volume was limited to 19 saying something to the effect "low power mode". Turning then dial up and down a few times it continued to stop at 19 displaying that message. Then of close by the time I pulled out my phone to capture a picture of it, it cleared. Cold start, 28 degrees F.

Radio always goes to "low power mode" when the engine is not running, at least on mine

When you replace the battery, make sure the connections are free of corrosion! Frankly too many computers in cars like the LR3 for my liking.

Get your ABBA badges & ABBA buttons out folks, dam spell check spelt it backwards, have a nice day.

But yes a new battery would be in order if it's over four years old, just had to fit a new one to the Jag as random dash lights would pop up.
