Damaged / Salvaged 95 D90 thoughts

Hello all.

This D90 is for sale at an auction house down here & I wanted to get peoples honest opinions on damage, cost, AND possibly if anyone here knew the last owner and maybe they could chime in on damage. Looks like possible frame damage, no? ALSO why in the world is the rear left tire completely bald ... seems odd.

Thanks!!

This is weird. This truck was JUST posted over on ExPo (not at an auction) sitting in San Diego in a parking space, in what appeared to be much nicer shape.

That is super odd. I'm not a part of that forum so I can't see the image. Wonder when that guy saw it. I love a good mystery. -- I'm going to phone the auction house to see what the deal is.

Seems about right. You're good.

I'm definitely going to keep a close eye on it. The women at the auction said that they are waiting on the title from the insurance company before they start the auction officially. -- They said I can drop by to see the vehicle, but no purchase could be made without a broker. I called a few brokers in the our area but none of them want to deal with a salvage title.

Just looking at the bend in the front bumper would lead me to believe the frame is really tweeked. Looks like it took a hard shot.
And the left rear tire looks like a retread that lost the tread.
Damn shame.
Hope you can get a deal.
Mike

Yeah d110pickup I had that thought too. It doesn't exactly look like that bumper absorbed anything. Probably sent some legit shock waves into the frame.

Someone's gonna overpay for a lot of useless Rover parts and a VIN.

I've had some experience with salvage Defenders and to me, it looks like the driver's side rear tire blew the tread off. It was likely dry rotted. Notice that the tire missing the tread is the original OEM BFG All-terrain (probably the original spare). It's easy to identify from the side wall tread. The other 3 on the ground are newer BFG's. You can also see where on the rear quarter the tread swung around as it was coming apart and left marks on the body. It likely caused the damaged rear corner and tailpipe as well. When the tire blew, I'm guessing it caused the driver to lose some control and hit someone from behind.

Just my $.02.....

Ah I know! I've been watching it. It's at $8k now & closing at midnight. With a probable frame swap, body work, tires and who knows what else 8k may already be out of my budget but still tempting. We'll see how high it goes & I'll be watching.
