Actually 3 fewer windows - no thief worth his salt will try those small ones!

Yes, here in Mass if you suffer window damage it is covered at no charge.

Jeez!
I just drilled 24 holes in my Defender recently when I installed 4 inward folding seats and 4 lap belts.

What a deal!

It is not covered here in OR.

Thanks for your advice everyone.

I think a little bit of everything will help deter the smash&grabbers. I will not leave anything visible in the car anymore, not even an empty cd case. I might get a compact tuffy box if I can fit it in the rear somewhere (I already have 4 inward folding seats there). I already have one in the front. I am installing a raingler net between the fronts seats to further complicate getting in the back. I am going to order an alarm and possibly also get tinted security film and guards for the windows.

I'm just glad they didn't vandalize it. I have just finished putting in these beautiful Black Canvas Exmoor Trim seats in the front as well as in the back. Same ones used by the Ministry of Defense in the UK. I will post pictures once the truck is fixed.

If none of the above works there's always this (see attached picture):
