D90 - Ignition / Door Key

Is there a way so that one could get the ignition key to open the doors as well? Can one "re-program" the existing tumblers in the 3 doors?

Or is it easier to buy after market tumblers and do that (if possible).

Thanks

About 15 years ago I converted a manual lock Nissan truck to electric with a key FOB. Wonder if anyone has done this with their Defender. I may try it some day after I fix the other 100 items that need to be fixed.

Yes but you may need extra "tumblers" to make it work. (on push button doors)

RN sells barrels with keys. I bought a set- included ignition, both front doors and the rear door, so I'll have one key for the vehicle instead of the 4 is came with. Be aware, there are (at least) two different barrel lengths. I had to buy a Puma rear door handle so the barrel would match- to the tune of about a million dollars (felt like it).

Good luck!

I did mine (95 NAS ST), I moved the tumblers from the ST half doors to the push button ones but before I did I had a locksmith match them to Td5 ignition key, rear door too... so I'm one key for everything and my old ignition keys work as well.

There is a thread about rekeying the doors to the ignition key but the ignition key doesn't insert in the tumbler all the way. Scares me that the key may break. They sell a re-key kit that I am looking at getting right now, LR052049 and I am trying to find out if the tumbler length is correct for the station wagon push button doors as there are two different lengths. Does anyone know?
