D90 hard top hatch struts

Hi Mates,

I've searched the forums here, googled, eBay'd, rov3rn*rth'd, etc. and can't find struts for a 1995 D90 hard top rear window hatch. Anytime I have found anything that I think it might be close, the description always says "Range Rover."

Can anybody help? My struts are totally shot, so I removed them a couple years ago and have had to resort to using a garden stake to hold up the hatch.

Thanks,

Dave

If you were searching for 1995 specifically that may have been your issue. You have a fiberglass hard top which was made for all years. There may be additional info in the FAQ section as well.

I think this is what you are looking for. See attachment

I suggest ordering through there (if they are still around) rather than measuring and trying to find a match elsewhere. Been there, done that.

These fit perfectly. Price may be different as this was posted a long time ago.

McMaster-Carr sells gas struts where you select the extended and compressed lengths, the types of ends (ball, socket, eye, etc), and the strength. I used a pair of 30 pounders on my metal series lift gate, so imagine a pair of 20 pounders will keep you fiberglass hatch open.

Even if the first strength you order doesn't work, you can afford to try a couple different ones for less than you'd pay for a genuine part anyway.

revive and relive this thread...

Trying to source these gas struts for the fiberglass hardtop. Mine finally expired. Trying out the McMaster direction, with 10mm ball ends. They measure a bit shorter, but are only 19.93 each. RN wanted over $100 ea, and had to order them. I'll report back. Here's the part # I'm going with. 9416K2
