D90 hard top

I just bought a hard top for my defender and when I went to put it on I noticed I don't have some of the required holes. I was also wondering if the rear role cage bars need to be removed or loosened up for instalation of the side pieces?

1. Unless you have a 1994, you should have all the holes.
2. No.

Which holes are you missing? Pix would help.

You don't loosen the cage, you loosen the side pieces from each other. The instructions for the top are actually on this site, just browse from the home page, don't go to the forum. You can also run a search for the link.

Thank you guys. It is a 94 defender. When I bought the top it was for my 95 but I have the 95 up for sale now.

You need the rivnuts to install on a 1994. You also have to trim the sides at the bottom to accomodate the different location of the angled bars of the cage on a 1994 as compared to a 1995/97. As JimC says, there are instructions on this website.

Yes, check out the instructions I posted here a while back. It should be a PDF of the actual instructions I got with my top when I bought it new.

Actually here is the page: http://www.defendersource.com/tech/f...p_install.html

d90 hardtop remedy

my hard top didnt fit exactly either and some of the holes didnt line up. so insted of drilling i used some really cool little clamps i found at home depot. they work great and you can hardly see them once installed.
