Yes, you can swap them over.

However...... you may need to swap the brakes over, as one or the other may/may not have vented discs.

If it's an early D1, it'll have the 10 spline diff and the large drive member. CV strength may not be as strong as the current one in your d90.

you'll also have to swap the steering rods over, as the disco has the damper mounted low down between the track rod and the diff, whereas the d90 has it fixed up onto the chassis.

Can you swap just the axle housings from a Disco and use all the internals, brakes, and other parts from the D90?

What year is your D90?

There are a couple differences. Discos use different steering links including a different drop arm (no big deal, keep the D90 stuff) and discos use non-vented rotors and narrower calipers whereas NAS D90s have vented. Finally, discos have ABS whereas 94/95 D90s do not have that provision (97 D90s do but don't use it for ABS).

If you are talking early 90s pre-NAS, some did not have front sway bars, had narrower radius arms, different hubs etc., but as long as you take the whole assembly including the radius arms off the disco, you should be fine.

Keep the D90 brakes and rotors and the D90 steering and you should be fine. You will need to leave the wheel speed sensor on the disco axle, but just cut the wires.
