D2 humm question

I'd like you guys input on this....My D2 has a humm that comes from the serp belt area, it comes and goes for no apparent reason, at the same time my starter is turning slower as well. My first though was maybe one of the pullys is getting ready to let go. Any input from you guys would be appreciated.
