D2 Auto box?

Is a RRC/D1 ZF = D2 ZF? The RRC needs a transmission and it appears that D2 transmissions and lt230s are far easier to source than D1. Beyond the known issues with the ability to shift some D2 LT230s, will the transmission bolt in and play happily with a 4.6 in a rrc?

Electronics kicked in with obd2 in 1996. Connecting engine and box more than on 95 and prior years.

I don't know about the brakes, only their unreliability.

No, and They will bolt in... But you'll need to get a Compushift (Expensive).

There are three (3) different "flavors" of the ZF 4HP: 4HP22, 4HP22EH and 4HP24EH. All three have the same casing with different components.

The 4HP22 has hydraulic valve body; the 4HP22EH and 4HP24EH have electronic valve body.

The ZF 4HP22, fitted on the RRC and Disco I from 1994 until 1999 (97 Defender too); And the ZF 4HP22EH, fitted to the Disco II with the 4.0L motor (1999 to 2002). The 4HP24EH was fitted on the 4.6L Disco II (2003 and 2004). Don't ask me about the P38 beacuse I don't care about them.... But probably is the same shit (4HP22EH on the 4.0L and 4HP24EH on the 4.6L).

The good news is that you can fit all the 4HP24EH components on a 4HP22.

No... The RRC, Disco I and 97 D90 have hydraulic valve body.
