D-90 Subwoofer Box Options?

In the market for one for my ST.

Short of the brittle OEM Sub enclosure, what alternatives exist for a cargo door mounted sub box? I've seen ECR's, but as expected- no mail order option. Has anyone found a similar aftermarket solution, or a recommendation for an experienced box builder?

Thanks!

R

Any decent audio shop should be able to build you a sealed enclosure. I've got an off the shelf pick up truck enclosure that's supposed to go behind the pick up seat. It's shaped like a wedge. It goes right behind the center console and still allows for the jump seat to come down.

For your ST... Just put it behind the rear seat. A trunk mounted one will take up that space when closed anyway. This way you at least have the option to pull it out easily without removing something from the door.

Get hold of Carey (EWR.....or whatroad) he made them for ECR and I'm pretty sure he will make them for you.

Avoid plastic enclosure. As you say brittle. Make one up out of wood, preferably marine type and finished to your personal preference.

Carey Knause. Great stuff. Very happy with mine, but you may want to go with an 8" instead of the 10". I have the JL Audio 10W1v2-4 as it does not suck power like the slim series pioneer does. It took me a month or two to find the right sub that was slim enough for my needs. I have a whole thread on it if you do a search.

Personally, I would never advise to do that. Unless you're the guy planning on stealing it. If it "just comes out" than that sub box would disappear within the week. It's bolted to the rear door to keep it there. Just my .02 though.

Shoot me a PM and let me know what you have in mind.

Thanks guys for the props

This is all covered in my other thread I'm sure, but one of my biggest concerns was weight. I forget what the box weighed - maybe 12 lbs - plus rhinolining was another few pounds, but with the speaker it was still under 25 I think. I went for the best mix of economy, performance, weight, efficiency, and depth when I picked out the sub. Carey built the rest to suit the sub I picked, while still obviously making sure it fit compactly on the rear door.
