I've been looking at alot of online ads for Defenders and have seen two types of covering on the rear rollcage. One is the textured foam/rubber that is moulded right around the cage. The other looks like padding that has been wrapped around. Is this something that was put on later or did they come straight from the factory in two types? The model year doesn't seem to make a difference as I've seen both types on all three soft-top years.
All the NAS D90's came with the molded rubber covering the roll bars. The 4 padded removable covers came with the full Besttops and went around the two diagonal bars and the 2 vertical rear bars. They were "dressing" and didn't provide much more protection than the bars alone. The were also hard to keep clean if you kept your top off.
