Is there any market for the A/C out of a 94. Mine works great but is never used. If it's that warm, the top is off and in Wyoming that is seldom indeed. Although this is a V-belt setup, is it just a matter of having a serpentine pulley put on the compressor for later models?

I am in the middle of removing my A/C system for the exact same reason you mentioned. If the top is off if it is hot, so why take up the extra space? I have seen previous A/C systems sell on here for in-excess of $1K, so i believe there is a market for fully functional A/C systems.

It is my understanding that the 97 Defenders have the serpentine belt, but all 97 D90s came from the factory with the compressor installed, and the air conditioning unit was installed as a dealer option. Therefore, it seems that you could sell a 94 A/C system to someone with a 97 D90 and they could use the previously installed compressor.

Im interested in one of these A/C units you are talking of removing. I would prefer on out of a 94/95 so I could get the vbelt compressor

PM me if you are serious about selling your A/C unit

I am almost done uninstalling my A/C. How much of the wiring comes out? Do I have to take it out all the way to the fuse box? Seems almost impossible. Also, does the bracket for the compressor come out. Looks like I would have to take the water pump off to take it off. I don't know if trucks came with this bracket regardless of having A/C.

Brian,

I took the bracket off and did not need to remove the water pump. It is a little tight, but you can do it.

In terms of the electronics, it is my understanding that all Defenders are prewired to accept the A/C, but I could be wrong. If they are pre-wired then all you would need to do is disconnect the wires back to the fuse area and be done with it. Of course, if you don' t plan on selling the A/C, it doesn't matter if all Defenders are prewired.

Thanks a lot. Getting the bracket out was easier than it looked
