^ that's funny...unless you're the owner. That's like offering a cup of coffee to settle the nerves of someone who just downed two energy drinks.

Without a TWIC maybe you can hire a licensed escort for $50 so you're there when things go down. That's how I get on the port to drive mine home.

I will be in the Port of Baltimore this week. What line did it come in on ? IE is it @ the Childs St terminal or Dundalk Marine terminal ? Ports America sounds like K lLine or Grimaldi, Never use those two but have seen theri ground equipment @ Dundalk. In my experience you need to make an appt and perform something like this with the officer on site, ie you don't go unlatching a hood in a secure area without them there. You aren't even supposed to take pictures. another concern is its a port and on the water, uprotected from high winds. I have had customs not fully latch a bonnet after an inspection and a high wind whipped up and removed the bonnet from the truck and damaged an adjacent vehicle. PM me if you need help.

Came in on the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia, BAHRI, all I could find for RORO from Italy, not a bad experience from the agents of this shipping line. Bahri import customer service told me they will do something to get it open today, I'll call them end of day to check. There are TWIC escort companies I understand if needed, I did ask the import CSR to tell customs they can break the grill if needed. At least with RORO I'm not getting killed on demurrage while this plays out. I can look this BL# up on Ports America website under the Baltimore location, the address corresponding is Broening Hwy so it should be the Dundalk Marine Terminal. Doug, are you a customs broker yourself or an importer?
Thanks for all the help everyone.

That's great! Thank goodness. Congrats! How did they manage? Screwdriver or tin snips?

Don't know how, they don't disclose that over the phone. They say they don't even know how much or if it will cost me anything. I'll find out when I try to get it picked up.

The first customs officer probably pushed on the hood cable instead of pulling it, or only pulled on it a little to the point of first resistance and not to the point where the spring latch would actually release.

Yeah! I'll bet you're right! Might not have been snapped at all, but in fact simply a mechanical action that most people are now unaccustomed to with everything being electronic actuation.
