Curious..Diesel to Gas conversion

Just out of curiosity...what would it take to convert a 2.5TD with a L77 to a gas V8? I do love the diesel, but it is soo slow...and yes I could upgrade to a 300TD.....

For some of the motors I assume they would mate up to a L77 or would you have to change the Trans too? What else would be required?

You have to change the gearbox. They are different for the diesels. New motor mounts and change over everything. If you have to ask.....

If you purchased an old Discovery you could use everything engine/transmission. The V8 bell housings for the manual transmissions are getting harder to source. You would have to upgrade your wiring harness to accept the new electronics unless you went the carb set up. As stated above you would also have to change your motor mounts also. It is pretty easy to do but requires a bit of work.

Thats not such a bad idea. Especially if you go with the Lokar adapter....

Interesting...I guess the 300TD or a newer TD5 or such would give it more get up and go with less issues...would still have to change the box..but not a big deal...was just curious...

I would highly recommend you find and drive before making a decision based on speed. The 300 may not be your idea if speed either.
