Cost of recon 200tdi imported from UK

Thought I would post this to give an actual cost of importing a 200tdi for my 110. I had a bad 2.25 petrol and Turners quoted around 2500 UK pounds for a stripped rebuilt engine plus 300 UKP for shipping. I checked around and found Landy Ltd who seemed OK. Costs were as follows all in UK pounds. Core Defender 200tdi engine and gearbox 900, Landy labour charge for building a complete engine with ancillaries 1345, fuel pump and injectors 1033, other new parts including starter, alternator, water pump, exhaust system, radiator basically everything new 1282, shipping crates 250. The grand total came to 3760 UK pounds plus 300 to ship to the US. Installation was realtively straightforward and the motor started right up but had a leaky injector, dripped coolant from a core plug and dripped oil from the timing cover as mentioned in a previous post. Corrected those issues and made the MAR, have done around 400 miles far.

Ken,
Great meeting and chatting with you this weekend. Did you end up changing the transfercase ? Most 2.25's have 1.6 ratio boxes which are too short for tdi's. Loved your air portable by the way.

Do you have any pictures? I know it doesn't tell all, but it would be nice to see what a 6k 200tdi looks like.

[QUOTE=bossman429;303992]You did the instal Had help from a local shop, they are not Rover people but as it was a drop in they had no problems with it. It was much easier to fit the new exhaust using the lift and they had a good gearbox stand and engine hoist plus two hands made the job much easier.

I'll look the same as a POS 200tdi... only cleaner.
