coolant fill tower plug

I have a stuck plug on the heater fill pipe. Plastic plug so it rounds easily, can't use crescent wrench. Don't want to drill because coolant might become contaminated.

Any suggestions on how to remove?

Get a pair of vice grips on it (gently), turn slowly, say your prayers, and replace with the updated brass plug.

Sill seems resistant to vise grip. don't want to break anything. Just had an idea I'm going to try tomorrow. It's pretty cold up here, so going to heat up the plug gently with a heat gun, then apply grips.

Round pipe type vice grips on the outside of the plug, not the part shaped like a nut.
