Converting '87 110 RHD 5 door to soft top

I have reviewed the ECR Beach Runner website. I am looking to convert my 5 door 110 to a similar model. I currently have a ribbed roof and would like a roll cage. I either need to get a flat roof or build a custom cage. If i am building a custom cage, i figured i would do it so i can have a soft top. I will have a custom soft top as well. Due to some local laws, i will be keeping the full doors but adding a half door tailgate.

I was curious if anyone has info on fabricating a soft top roll cage and the attachment points to the frame. I figure there would be an external bar by the windshield with the rest running along the tops of the doors and in plane with the body at the rear.

I would appreciate any thoughts/recommendations.

Thanks, Tim

This is best version Ive seen its a NAS D90 cage that is stretched to fit the 110. Not my rig so I dont have much more info than that. But i do no for fact that it started as a D90 cage.

So Protection and Performance does have a bolt on cage for 5 door conversion. They also sell the associated soft top.

Any suggestions for the rear door? What is the best place to source a half door?

I am doing the same thing, I ordered a 5 door soft top from All Wheel Trim. What they don't advertise is the offer a large tube version with or with out roll cage securing to the frame.

I ordered half doors front and second row restored and galvanized from Ash Tree restoration. Just waiting on the shipment to come through

Britpart sells a half door kit for this purpose or you can go with a side swing tailgate.
FWIW Chris @ Badger has/can make you a soft top for your 5 door.
Ron's is sweet.

Ron Peppard here on the forum has a 5 door soft top and he used a NAS 90 cage. The trick part is the hoop that bridges the tops of the B pillars on a 5 door. It has to be stiff enough to keep the pillars from flexing and screwing up the door alignment

Converting '87 110 RHD 5 door to soft top

After a year and a half of waiting my soft top and half door order came in....

Front and second row half doors, tops swing away tail gate and the unlisted wide tube soft top mohair kit from all wheel trim.

LaSal injection molded door cards

Refurb galvanized doors from AshTree

More to come...

Yep it was a brewie build ... really nice one. I'd pass on the sand ladders there but that's the way the client wanted it.

I think it was just a clever use of the holes left by the external roll cage on a NAS110's tub.

Very true, forgot it was a NAS truck. It was clever and really perfect for Nantucket

Converting '87 110 RHD 5 door to soft top

So one thing to note, this is the big tube/hoop set. All wheel trim doesn't advertise it on their site. It very closely resembles the kits from safety devices. Overall it's s very nice kit. More to come....

Just curious, you had mentioned above that you waited a 1-1/2 years. What was the wait for?
