With 2 filters, how do you know which one to change?
I always assume it's the gas filter since it's 1st in line in the filtering process. As far as the brand of gas filter, I just use Fram.

Related thread on proper 300TDi filtration/sedimentation, started recently by yrs. truly: http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...tor-64050.html

I had a setup similar to the one you're currently running, except it really was a gasoline filter, and . . . the lift pump had been connected by mistake to the return line, so my fuel was running backwards through the wrong filter on its way back to the tank . . . suboptimal.

I used one of Mr. Davis' sedimenters and am quite pleased with the result.

My D90 is stock gearing, 31.5" BFG AT/KO's, 235/85-16's, the correct Zf auto for diesels and a 1.2 TC. No lift.
I consistently get 22-23 mpg at 4500' elevation. I do have a Detroit in the rear. I do have a Front Runner Slimline roof rack W/ my spare tire on it. IF I pull my tent trail, mpg drops to 19. I typically drive 62-65 mph turning 2200-2300 rpm's.

My conversion kit was of all new components in July 2001. I've turned down my fuel screw 1/8 of a turn because of my elevation. I NEVER see smoke, and on the dyno Opacity test it emits 2.5 to 5 % smoke.

I think I was maybe seeing around 21-22 in town. Best I ever got was the day I picked it up from Doug and drove home. Had a beautiful tailwind. I filled up in Baker City and had gotten a little over 26. But never got that kind of mileage again.

I would say with the lift, bigger tires, armor, equipment, etc that 19 is pretty good.
