Contura Switch 3 way and 2 way

I am trying to mount an IN-CAB control for my winch, and I want to put 2 Illuminated Contura switches , one 3 way for IN-OFF-OUT and the second as a piggyback to the 3 way for ON-OFF. ( so in case I forget to plug the remote )

I seem to remember seeing this switches ( ARB lockers look )

Questions:

Has anyone done this?

Do you know a place to obtain the switches?

Thanks in advance

Search for carling here and you'll find various options and some links where to find them.

http://order.waytekwire.com/category/M37/260 If you want a single on/off I think I have some extras. Otherwise, Waytek has minimums on a lot of the stuff. But hey, they have some great products at really dirt cheap prices.

IMO, this is the best place to get them, http://www.leapfrogstudios.com/S2.htm

They have labelled rockers for most things you would want. Amazing service as well.

i just bought a series of carling switches from mud uk and they were great to deal with. they have more options than are listed on their website. if you tell them what you are doing they can give you any needed install advice. you can pay by paypal and shipping was reasonable and only took about a week to get to alaska.

Iron Goat sells the Carlingswitches which ARB uses. He as well has the illuminated switches and having done some research he was the lowest cost, and very fast delivery. And with our C$ taking a dive, a better deal for you. And IG did all the homework.
http://www.ig4x4.com/
For the winch setup you should go with:
Winch Rocker with Legend VVALCXX-300-XWC1 $2.45
Rocker Switch Power Window Winch Controll IG-WINDOW-RS $13.58
So $16 C$ gets you what you need.
There are as well options for mounting brakcets if you want to mount many together.

Do not do the 4x4mods.com way ... google them and you will see for yourself. I will never do business with them again.

Go Iron Goat !

Do the IG rockers have labels that are printed on the rockers or are they stickers? The otrattw rockers have printed rockers with both the name and icon.

With IG you buy the switch then you can go with the stickers that they sell or go with different rocker cover that replaces the original. This is the route I went and am very satisfied with the result.

Do both of the lights in those switches light up? ie. Can you wire one of them to light with the dash lights and the other when the switch is activated?

I'm just saying stickers are not the greatest. They don't wear or last as well as a printed rocker.

As to the other question, if you click on the switch on the IG site, it shows the circuit pattern. The 2 position switches are single light, the 3 position are double light, from what I see, although the descriptions do not match the diagrams.....

I only have the ON/OFF switches and the small bar type light comes on with the instrument cluster light and the little signs come on when the switch is in the ON position.

I think the Iron Goat dash setup is pretty good quality. I cannot talk about the alternatives (ie.: TD5 or Mud UK) as I have never worked with them.

Iron Goat being a canadian company make it really easy to deal with too.

A few answers. You can go with stickers but they as well sell a replacement rocker that is silk screened on. You can wire up them how you like. They have 2 lights, a small light bar at the top and then the main light where the image is. I am wired so that with running lights, the main block is illuminated to show me which switch is which, and when you engage, then the light bar at the top illuminates.

I agree, stickers are not the way to go. I used them on my faux security cover. I made a thin steel box (to fit over my DDin 7" screen), painted it flat black to match the console, and then installed dummy switches on it. People get in the front seat and don't notice it's a faux panel and wonder where the stereo is. With tinted windows it does not show up as out of place. Just a deterent, but if I can at least not show anything of interest, they'll walk away. Maybe I'll put a flashing led on it.

P.S. The craftsmanship is pretty bad on what I build.

Do NOT do business with 4x4mods.com. Similar to other posters, I ordered multiple switches which never arrived. Thankfully, Paypal came to my rescue. James at OTRATTW is a pleasure to deal with and will go out of his way to find what you are looking for. I have done business with him multiple times and will do so again.

List of my carling conversions/installs:
Dash mounted (left of steering wheel)
1.) Retrofitted emergency/hazard switch- most complex install utilizing original Lucas switch in the ON position, DPST Carling switch interrupting/connecting power to the original switch, with diodes in-line to prevent all lights from flashing when left or right blinkers are activated.
2.) Electric fan activation switch- also using OEM diode on temp sensor to prevent feedback of current into AC
3.) Dome light
4.) Carling lit toggle switch for dash light
Mounted in custom box on center cubby:
1.) Switch for rear led lighting for cargo area
2.) Aux Lighting 1
3.) Aux Lighting 2

I can post some pics of these carling solutions if anyone is interested.
