Connector for a 2-pin Speedo sender

I though I had the right wiring connector for my speedo upgrade. Turns out the STC1188 does't work with a sender from a Disco. The pins on the sender are farther apart then on the STC1188. Any ideas where to get one that will work?

Are you using the Td5 harness or did you do away with that?

The Lighting Adapter Harness you have (STC1188) uses a 2-way AMP Econoseal Connector.

The Speedo Transducer uses the 3-way AMP Econoseal Connector (but only uses the outer two pins).

You could use the Lighting Adapter Harness for the Stop/Tail Lights - STC1189 (superceded by AMR3334), but this costs a small fortune from Land Rover

A cheaper way would be to source just the connector, from a US supplier -

or, if you don't have the right tools to crimp the connector, they also sell a 'Pigtail' version -

I'm sure that there are plenty of other US suppliers for this connector, but Ballenger Motorsports are the only one I know of.

That's what he already has (2-way connector) - The one he needs is the 3-way connector for the Stop/Tail lights.

Thanks, that makes sense, I wish I had one of those laying around too.

As far away the TD5 HARNESS I am going to use it, if it is a td5 harness, I was confused when I took the engine harness apart and only found 4 glow plug leads?

Are you saying that the 3 way plug fits on the 2 prong VSS??? Sounds strange.

Yes, it uses the just the two outer pins on the 3-way connector.

The Speedo Transducer only has male pins in positions 1 and 3, position 2 is omitted.

Yes, STC4637 is another option -

STC4637 / STC1189 - one supercedes the other (I'm not sure which way round )

AMR3334 - has a 2-way and a 3-way connector bound together in a short loom (this is the expensive one)

That's the one

Also available from Autosparks, as a Male/Female pair -

As I said in my earlier post, they're available from most UK Auto-Electrical suppliers, as well as several sellers on eBay UK, but a large number of these won't ship outside of the UK.

.

I've just noticed - the AMP Econoseal Connectors listed by Ballenger Motorsports are not suitable

They're the Econoseal J [Mark II (+)] Series, the Speedo Transducer/NAS Lights use the Econoseal III, 070 Series -

This is good - a 3D pdf of the connector shell -

Newark sells the connectors, but they have a 38 day lead time right now, with none on the shelf....

They also require a minimum order of 500 units

Newark sell as Farnell in the UK.

It's quite annoying to think that you've found a supplier of a particular part, only to discover that they don't actually stock the item, but will happily accept an order for several hundred (or thousand) units

I only put the link to Tyco's Part Number to illustrate the difference between the Econoseal J [Mark II (+)] and the Econoseal III 070, as you would also require, in addition to the connector shell, the Terminals, Wire Seals and Terminal Lock to make-up a complete connector.

These work perfectly, I got the pigtail version.

Anyone have a VDO hall effect laying around that they want to sell?
