Cold idle.

So the other weekend I was with some othe truck owners and we noticed my truck has strange startup behavior.

Their trucks start, idle high and drop back to idle levels when warm.

Mine starts low and increases idle ... Via some surging to warm levels.

It's not causing me any issues, was just wondering if anyone else had experienced it.

Might be the PROM program in the ECU. Many were upgraded to a cold start version-- I believe that may be the difference. Many use the 4.2 cold start prom-- super simple to upgrade-- 4-screws, I chip, plug and play...

My guess is the temp sensor is running open loop.

I really need to get a rover gauge.

rover gauge shows temp sensor is running properly.

I saw something about the plenum casting restriction around the idle control valve i might measure that.

I'll also check my PROM version ... can't recall what version I have.
